Hedging Cedars

Hedging Credars

Hedging cedars make excellent environmentally friendly living fences in sun or part shade. The west coast is extremely well suited for cedars and there are also native western cedars grown on our nursery.

Cedars require little care apart from an annual maintenance and fertilizing. To keep the plants healthy during the summer a weekly deep and slow watering will keep cedars growing and green throughout the year.  Thuja Smaragd or Emerald green cedar is the most popular variety we grow for green screens with a golden hue on its new growth. Western red cedar or Thuja plicata is our native western red cedar that grows rapidly to make hedges or wind breaks. Our inventory includes Pyramid cedar, Green giant and Brandon. For a small hedge or border globe cedars like little giant will perform very well. Our cedars are for the most part grown in containers and as such guarantee to transplant with the entire root system unlike balled and burlap where a significant part of the root system is left in the soil where it is dug.
